    The Hill Resort

    The 1,478 m high Nandi Hills are the source of many rivers. And the forests surrounding the hills, abound with wild animals. Around the Nandi Hills are several smaller hills which can be visited on foot. Nandi Hills enjoys a moderate climate throughout the year. Language Spoken here are Kannada, Hindi and English.

Like most of the good hill stations in India, Nandi Hills, also called Nandi Durga, was discovered and developed by the British. Located 58 kilometers from Bangalore, Nandi Hills is well known for its breezy weather and sprawling greenery that stretches as far as your eyes can go.

    Best Season to Visit/Weather

    Nandi Hills and Muddenahalli every day during the season (April-may). The maximum and minimum temperatures during being 29 degree Celcius and 23 degree Celcius in summer and 21 degree Celcius and 11 degree Celcius in winter.

    If you escape the maddening traffic and polluted climate of Bangalore to reach Nandi Hills, you'll feel that you have stepped into a giant sized refrigerator. Of course, you cannot be too wrong, because Nandi hills is always cooler than its surrounding places because of the greenery and its height.

    Usually, Nandi hills will have people visiting it all around the year. But you are advised to avoid rainy seasons as the rocky cliff can get dangerously slippery and the road can get really unforgiving, unless you think this is how an adventure holiday should be!

    Situated at the north-eastern base of Nandi Hills, this villages was, for some time, a British Military Station. The Bhoga Nandishvara Temple Complex here is, architecturally one of the most important Dravidian-style structures in the State.

    Muddenahalli

    The home town of Sir M. Visvesvaraya - the architect of modern Karnataka - Muddenahalli is just a few Kms from Nandi Hills. The house of this genius is now a museum.

    Nandi Hills provides modern, well-furnished accommodation for tourists. Nehru House, formerly Cubbon House, build by Lord Cubbon has 18 rooms and available for tourist. Gandhi House, where the Mahatma himself stayed, is under the management of DPAR (Protocol) Government of Karnataka and is reserved for the stay of important dignitaries. The Horticulture Department runs a vegetarian restaurant and the Karnataka Tourism Department runs a vegetarian / non-vegetarian restaurant "MAYURA". Nandi Hills has a well maintained road of 8 kilometers from the foothill to the top. Medical, postal, telegraph and telephone facilities are available on hill top.
