The oldest monastery in the world, the Chor Khor Monastery was built in 996 AD. It is a belief over here that it was built overnight. It has beautiful murals and houses scriptures, tanghkas and clay Buddha statues built in Kashmiri style. Beside the Buddhist architecture, Tabo offers magnificent scenery of the snow covered mountain peaks. It is an ideal destination for those searching for a new and unexplored destination in the hills of Himachal Pradesh. The place is an upcoming hill station as well as historically important hamlet.
