Situated in the Kumaon mountains of the Himalayas in eastern Uttaranchal. Most of the town is situated on a crescent shaped mountain about 5 Km long, and most of it is above 6000 feet. Unlike Shimla, Ranikhet and Nainital which were developed by the English, Almora is a hill station totally developed by the Indians. The town itself is your usual crowded hilltown in northern India, but the natural beauty around is astouding. Almora is also called a town of temples. Situated in the centre of the town is the temple of Goddess Nanda Devi. The mountain is visible from the nearby areas as well. Almora is an agricultural base and also a trade centre.

Situated 22 Km from Nainital and 11 Km from Bhowali at an altitude of 1370 mts. The pride of Bhimtal is a beautiful lake which offers magnificent vistas for tourists. Pithoragarh
Nestling in a small valley, barely 5 Km long and 2 Km wide, the town also known as Sore Valley was an important landmark of the Chand Rajas of Kumaon. It is situated at an altitude of 1,650 m above sea level and has the facility of three spoken languages, namely Hindi, Kumaoni and English.Pithoragarh is the district headquarters and its government buildings are housed in the hill fort of Pithoragarh at a distance of 7 Kms. from the main town. From the Chandak Hill located at around 2000 metres, one gets a panoramic view of snow range extending from Trishul, Nanda Devi, Panchchuli group and mount Appi of Nepal.

Named after Lord Shiva, Rudraprayag is loacted at the confluence of the holy rivers Alaknanda and Mandakani. Till a few years ago, Rudraprayag was a part of district Chamoli and Tehri. Rudraprayag has a total area of 2,328 sq. Km and is located at 610 mt above sea level. According to the Puranas the divine messenger Narada meditated here to appease Lord Shiva. Shiva appeared in his 'Rudra' form to bless him. It was where Sati the wife of Shiva was reborn after self immolation at her father;s place.
